Photoshoot: Kirby Hall

I visited Kirby Hall near Corby to capture some images based on atmosphere conveyed through mood and tone. I kept this in mind when taking pictures, and then edited these that turned out best. Some I put in black and white, because I felt that I wanted more focus on the tone in the image. I also raised shadows and adjusted the tone curves to give a more atmospheric feel in some images. The sky was uninteresting, so with black and white I was able to show some contrast between the white sky and dark foreground.

Here I increased Clarity in Adobe Lightroom, and raised the vibrance so that the green grass stood out. I brightened the image to allow the building to be more visible, and allowed a high f-stop to lower the depth of field blur. I also used the rule of thirds, keeping the subject in the lower third of the image, against a monotonous sky.

All photos taken by me.

I wanted to give the entrance gates a cinematic, desaturated look; I warmed the image and lowered saturation levels. I also added a HDR effect and straightened the image. I think the image has quite a rustic look, especially with the raised warm tones, that can be noticed in the stonework especially.
