Bokeh Shapes
Experimenting with custom bokeh shapes
I found a tutorial on youtube which showed how to change the shape of the light bokeh, rather than having the standard circle shape.
I started with a basic rectangle. I measured the diameter of the lens and created a strip to go around the circumference of the lens.
I then attached a flat circular piece and cut a rectangle into this. I made this quite small as was shown in the tutorial. The bokeh shape needed to be smaller than the aperture I used, and this size seemed to work.
This was the bokeh shape taken off the lens.
I then took a picture of these lights, to show the rectangular bokeh at different depths of field.
The rectangles aren't entirely clear here, but I took another photo purposely out of focus, which shows the effect. I will try this with different shapes and with different colours of light, and relevant objects in the foreground.
