Sunlit Landscapes

Below are all pictures from the photoshoots. I intended to capture interestingly lit images from sunsets, where I could enhance and develop the colours and tones in photoshop afterwards. I looked at landscape photograher William Patino for inspiration, and influenced these photos based on that inspiration (Click to see William Patino Artist Study).

Selected Edited Images:

For the image above, I raised the contrast, sharpness and Blue + Red colour levels. This enhanced the light rays giving a HDR looking effect and also the colour became more Sci-Fi looking rather than its monochromatic original state. I did the same for the photos below.

In the image below I added 'Soft Light' blended colours in Photoshop to add interest to the clouds, and duplicated the image onto a new layer to which I applied a motion zoom blur. I overlayed this and reduced opacity, but this effect gave a sense of movement in the clouds, and also added light rays, which can be seen at the centre of the image.

For the next image I wanted to enhance the darkness of the clouds, so I raised the contrast and added a motion blur overlay similar to the image above. I also added stars in the sky compiled from images I had taken previously, and added an orange overlay to enhance the warm tones from the Sun; masking this effect away from the blue areas with a layer mask.

And finally I went for a film-look with a soft vignette I created using a soft brush and layer mask. I also raised the contrast, played around with the curves adjustment layer and levels in order to accenuate the colours in the sky, whilst keeping a dark silhouette tree.
