Slinkachu - Artist Study
I have been inspired by an artist called Slinkachu, especially from his 'Little People' project, which consists of photographs of tiny model people placed with human-sized objects in a very creative way. Some examples of his work are shown on the right.

Analysis
'Tourists'
I like this photo particularly because of its composition. Slinkachu has cleverly distorted reality and perspectives by making it look as if the model figures are real people, although their plastic look suggests they are miniature. The image stood out to me because of its simplicity. The background is not too obtrusive, but not too blurred so that the people are still the main focus, but the Houses of Parliament are noticable too. The aperture was probably adjusted manually to achieve a blurred enough background to look like the people are bigger than they are. Normally, in Auto mode, the background would probably appear a lot more blurred, as the distance between in the model people and the Houses of Parliament is very large, and usually the further the object is from its background, the blurrier the background.
'Tennis Ball Island'
I chose this piece because it stood out to me because of the creative use of a puddle and reflections.
The subject appears a lot more vibrant than the background, as with a lot of Slinkachu's photos in 'Little People'.
I like the softness of the background, and as there are no other people to be seen, it gives a sense of isolation. Slinkachu has juxtaposed a stereotypical paradise with what appears to be a city, two contrary places.
The stillness of the water makes this environment look very tranquil, supposedly unlike the city in the background.
